Our reviews are collected and published by Housecall Pro, the field-service platform we run scheduling and invoicing through. They are shown here exactly as Housecall Pro serves them — nothing on this page is retyped, edited or curated by us.

Reviews, straight from the source

The panel below is loaded directly from Housecall Pro. If it does not appear — an ad blocker, a strict privacy extension or a slow connection will all do it — you are not missing a trick, and you can reach us the old-fashioned way instead. Call (817) 381-6158 and ask for references, or email info@armoredpowersystems.com. We would rather you talk to somebody than take a web page’s word for it.

Reviews are hosted and displayed by Housecall Pro. The panel scrolls independently, and its content is served by a third party we do not control — see our privacy policy and accessibility statement.

Do your homework

What to ask any generator installer before you hire them

Reviews tell you how a company behaved on somebody else’s property. These eight questions tell you what will happen on yours. Ask them of us, and ask them of everyone else quoting the job.

  1. 01

What is your Texas electrical contractor license number?

A generator install is electrical work — the transfer switch ties into your service entrance. Ask for the TECL number and check it against the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Anyone who hesitates has answered you.

  2. 02

How are you sizing the generator, and can I see the calculation?

Sizing from square footage is guessing. The number that matters is starting load: what your HVAC compressor, well pump and heat strips demand in the first second, not the tenth.

  3. 03

Who pulls the permit and coordinates with the utility?

If the answer is “you do”, factor that into the price and the timeline. Permitting and utility coordination should belong to the contractor.

  4. 04

Is the quote itemized, and what is deliberately not in it?

Cheaper bids are usually cheaper because something has been left out — the pad, the gas line upsizing, the panel work, the permit, the trenching. Ask for the exclusions in writing.

  5. 05

Is my gas meter or propane setup actually sized for this unit?

An engine starved of fuel starts fine on a no-load test and stumbles the moment the air conditioner cycles on. Fuel pressure under load is a real design step, not an afterthought.

  6. 06

Where exactly will it sit, and what are the clearance requirements there?

Clearances from windows, doors, vents and property lines are code, and moving a unit after it is set is expensive. Get the placement agreed before anything is poured.

  7. 07

Will you run a live transfer test with me watching before you leave?

Cutting utility power on purpose and watching the system carry the house is the only proof that the install works. A commissioning sheet is not the same thing.

  8. 08

Who services it in year two, and what does that cost?

Ask for the maintenance pricing before you buy, not after. A company that cannot tell you what ongoing service costs has not thought about being there for it.

Our answers

How we answer those eight

  • Licensing: Texas electrical contractor license TECL #41587, with systems designed and installed under Master Electrician oversight. Also a Generac Authorized Sales and Service Dealer, dealer #1033043.
  • Sizing: a load calculation comes before any equipment recommendation, and we will walk you through it.
  • Permits: municipal permitting and utility coordination are handled by us as part of the project.
  • The proposal: written and itemized, covering equipment, electrical work, pad and site prep, permit and startup.
  • The test: we cut utility power at the property and confirm the system carries the house before we call the job finished.
  • Year two: the first full year of routine maintenance is included with a new installation, and plan pricing after that is published on this site rather than quoted on the doorstep.

One more, for any contractor including us: ask for the manufacturer’s warranty terms in writing before you sign. They vary by model, fuel type and configuration, and the person selling you the machine should be able to put them in front of you.

We just finished work at your place

Ask your technician for the review link, or call the office and we will send it. If something did not go the way it should have, tell us before you tell the internet — call (817) 381-6158 or email info@armoredpowersystems.com. A company that only wants the good reviews is not learning anything.

Two ways to start

Which one are you?

Need a generator

We start with what has to keep running at your property — the well, the AC, the freezer, the shop — and size the system around it. You get a written proposal with the equipment, the electrical work and the site prep all in one number.
